Part-Time Bakery Production Team Member, Los Angeles, CA

About the Role

This role covers everything from prepping and stocking to counter service, plus decorating and finishing cakes and pies. As with all Whole Foods Market retail positions, you'll be expected to deliver friendly, efficient service to customers and teammates, follow store SOPs, and pitch in wherever needed to support the team.

What You'll Do

1. Bake high-quality breads and pastries
2. Prepare doughs, cake mixes, cookies, breakfast pastries, pies, and bars
3. Handle baking, cooling, wrapping, and labelling of finished products
4. Stock dry goods
5. Develop new recipes and techniques to keep up with seasonal demand and productivity goals
6. Train production staff to top industry standards
7. Plan and forecast production for holidays and special events
8. Keep production records updated in the Datapax system
9. Show up on time, properly groomed and ready to work; attend all scheduled shifts, trainings, and meetings
10. Deliver excellent customer service, including suggestive selling and prompt phone/page responses
11. Boost sales through proper prepping, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising
12. Follow procedures for Weights and Measures, health, sanitation, and safe work practices
13. Keep the work and shopping area clean and equipment well-maintained per WFM standards
14. Handle opening, mid-shift, and closing duties as assigned, including accurate signage and pricing
15. Report safety hazards or violations immediately
16. Take on other duties as assigned by leadership

Experience Needed

No prior retail experience required.

Physical Requirements

1. Able to lift up to 50 lbs
2. Standing/walking for 6–8 hours during an 8-hour shift
3. Comfortable with grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
4. Able to bend, twist, squat, and reach as needed
5. Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals
6. Comfortable working across temperature ranges — freezing, refrigerated, and above 90°F
7. Able to work in both wet and dry conditions
8. Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
9. Comfortable using tools like knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other equipment
10. May require ladder use

Pay & Benefits

The hourly range for this role is $18.50–$25.40, based on experience.

New entry-level Team Members who complete their first 90 days in an eligible role may qualify for a base pay increase afterward. Benefit eligibility varies by location, tenure, and job type.
