About the Role

As a Security Officer at a Transitional Shelter location in New York, NY, you'll help protect and support people across a range of settings — in this case, a shelter environment. This part-time position offers real flexibility, letting you shape a schedule around your life, with the added option to pick up extra shifts through the company's Claim a Shift platform.

As an Unarmed Patrol Officer, you'll walk regular patrols, maintain a visible and reassuring presence, and help keep the environment safe and welcoming for residents, visitors, and staff alike. Schedule

1. Tuesday: 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM
2. Wednesday: 11:30 PM – 7:30 AM
3. Thursday: 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM

What You'll Do

1. Deliver strong customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and vendors while following site security procedures and emergency protocols when needed
2. Monitor entry points, verify authorized access per site guidelines, and log visitor activity and any unusual events
3. Handle incidents and resident concerns calmly and professionally, escalating per established protocol when necessary
4. Carry out scheduled and random unarmed patrols across the shelter, common areas, entrances, and perimeter to deter unauthorized activity and spot potential concerns
5. Write clear, accurate incident reports and stay in communication with site staff and Allied Universal leadership

Minimum Requirements

1. Must be at least 18 years old (21+ for armed positions)
2. High school diploma or equivalent required
3. Background check required as a condition of employment, in line with applicable federal, state, and local laws
4. Candidates with criminal histories will be considered in accordance with applicable laws
5. Drug screening required where permitted by law
6. Licensing requirements vary by state/local regulations and may be needed before starting
7. Valid driver's license required only for driving-related roles
