Part-Time Social Media Editor — New York Post

Location: NYC – 1211 Ave of the Americas

Job Type: Part-Time (16–24 hrs/week)

Pay: $25.00 – $35.00/hour

Shift: Saturdays & Sundays, 8am–4pm EST

About the Role

New York Post — known for 225+ years of bold, opinionated journalism across print, digital, video and audio — is looking for a Part-Time Social Media Editor to join its newsroom. This role suits someone who lives and breathes social platforms, knows their way around video editing tools, and can turn breaking news into scroll-stopping content for a wide, engaged audience.

What You'll Do

You'll be responsible for shaping and publishing content across the Post's social accounts — spanning news, sports and Page Six — on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and Threads. Day-to-day, that means building short vertical videos, memes and graphics designed to drive engagement, plus filming and editing footage from live events, interviews and in-house shows for social-ready output. You'll also be expected to spot trending, newsworthy angles and turn them around fast, while keeping an eye on comment sections to keep audience conversations active and on-brand.

What You'll Need

  1. 2+ years managing social media for a news organization
  2. A track record of producing multimedia content and publishing across digital platforms
  3. Comfort with tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop and Canva — backed by a portfolio that shows it
  4. Sharp editorial instincts, with strong writing and copy-editing chops
  5. Up-to-date awareness of social trends and platform shifts, and the flexibility to pivot strategy accordingly
  6. Experience running high-volume social accounts with measurable growth in reach and engagement
  7. The ability to stay organized and hit deadlines in a fast-moving newsroom environment
  8. Genuine interest in news and culture, with the creative instinct to shape that into social-first storytelling
